Kidsinger Jim Like

Bio
Kidsinger Jim got into children's music in a rather unique way. After graduating from the University of Maryland in 1984, Jim spent the next four years in Austin, Texas singing in a succession of rock bands. While living in a cabin in the hills outside of Austin, he wrote a song about the spiders that were a constant presence in his house. A fellow musician soon heard Jim singing "Daddy Longlegs" and suggested it would make a great children's song. After several years of writing additional children's songs on purpose, Jim decided to move back to Maryland and pursue this exciting musical direction.
In 1992 Jim began performing his original songs for children professionally. A year later he became a part-time music teacher at a K-8 school. During the next six years, Jim gained valuable experience in the classroom while expanding his opportunities to perform. In 1996 during spring break, Kidsinger Jim recorded the 23 songs he had composed to date. By 1999 with his gig calendar filling up, Jim decided to leave classroom teaching to focus on performing for children and families full-time. In that same year, he became an approved performer on the Maryland State Arts Council Arts-in-Education artist roster. In the 13 years since, Jim has performed all over the Washington D.C./Baltimore region for children of all ages and in venues of all sizes.
2012 marks Kidsinger Jim's 20th year performing for children and families. Since his children's music career has coincided with raising a family, Jim has never had a desire to perform too far from home unless his family could come along. With 3,300 performances under his belt, Kidsinger Jim has "Big Plans" to continue to influence the lives of children in a "POSITIVE-ly Fun" way for years to come.
